The District Board of Trustees of Seminole State College of Florida announces an Executive Session, which is closed to the public, and a Regular Monthly Board meeting in which all persons are invited to attend.

A copy of the agenda may be obtained by calling the Office of the President at 407-708-2010, and arranging for an agenda to be sent electronically.  Agendas are also available on our website - www.seminolestate.edu.  Agendas are available one week prior to the meeting date.

Public Comment

Seminole State College District Board of Trustees welcomes public comments during its monthly meetings.  Any person or group wishing to make public comments should arrive at the meeting early and complete a “Public Comment Card.”  (Available during each Board meeting.)  All documents submitted to the Board of Trustees will be retained as part of the public record of the meeting.  Procedures for making Public Comment are as follows:

1)  Complete comment card including your name, address, telephone number and agenda item number (if appropriate).

2)  Submit the completed card to Board Assistants Cheryl Daley or Meghann Sellers, who will be seated in the rear of the Board Room.  When your name is called, approach the audience podium and state your name and address for the record.

3)  Comments are limited to three (3) minutes for an individual and five (5) minutes for a group.

 

Any person or group wishing to comment on an item not on the agenda needs to make a request to the Board three business days prior to the scheduled meeting.  This request can be done by telephone at 407-708-2010; by fax to 407-708-2011; or by email to daleyc@seminolestate.edu.

 

Decision Appeal

Persons are advised that, if they decide to appeal any decision made at this meeting, they will need a record of the proceedings and for such purpose, they may need to insure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based, per Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes.

The College hereby gives notice of its intent to adopt, amend or repeal the following rule(s):

4.050 Academic Recognition and Graduation Honors

6.070 Use of College Property for Free Speech and Expressive Activity

 

Purpose and Effect: The new, revised or repealed policy(ies) noted herein are proposed to promote improvements in institutional efficiency and effectiveness, clarify current practice and/or to reflect legislative changes.

 

Summary: The proposed Procedures will codify internal processes to ensure efficient and effective College operations in the noted areas.

 

Rulemaking Authority: F.S. 1001.64; 1004.65

Laws Implemented: Chapters 1000 through 1013, Florida Statutes, the “Florida K-20 Education Code,” and other statutes as may be specifically identified in the rule(s).

 

Date / Time / Location of Intended Action: The BOT will take action regarding the rule(s) noticed herein at its regularly scheduled meeting on November 18, 2019, 2:00 p.m., Room W200, Sanford / Lake Mary Campus.

 

A Notice of Rule Development was published in the Sanford Herald on October 13, 2019.  A copy of the proposed rule(s) and other background information may also be found on the College’s website at: https://www.seminolestate.edu/about/public-notices/.  A public hearing on the proposed rule(s) may be requested in writing within 21 days of this notice.  The written request must be filed on or before the 21st day in the Office of Legal Affairs at the address provided herein.

 

Any other College rule(s) which reference(s) the rule noticed herein shall be interpreted and enforced consistent with the new / revised rule upon its final adoption (unless otherwise indicated in the referencing rule(s)).
