Juanita Tedder Dorlon [Henson, Ashley, Dorlon] was born 1 February 1923, at Venice Florida, the daughter of Dexter D. Tedder and Susan Doris Harden. Juanita lived much of her early life in rural northern Florida surrounded by extended family in and around Columbia County. She graduated from Lake City High School in 1941. Juanita married H. Wayne Henson in 1943 at Lake City where he was serving in the U.S. Navy, and she worked as a telephone operator. They adopted George Wayne Henson in 1949 (deceased 2021) and Kevin Reid Henson in 1954 (living). Like many WW2 military wives, she followed Wayne’s postings until his retirement in 1960 when they moved to central Florida. In 1966 Juanita graduated from Lake City Junior College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then worked primarily as a surgical nurse until transitioning to public health for Seminole County, finally retiring in 1982. She and Wayne divorced in 1972. Juanita married V. Claude Ashley in 1974 and they were sealed in the Washington DC temple. Claude died in 1976 from bone cancer. Juanita married Daniel A. Dorlon in 1988. They served a mission to Liberia Africa and London England for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A life-long member of the Church, Juanita served in many positions of leadership, teaching and service. Dan died in 2001. Through friends, Juanita became involved in square dancing, which she dearly enjoyed for over two decades, becoming a member of multiple dance groups and performing publicly. Juanita’s posterity includes 5 grandchildren (Samantha, Christopher, Catherine, Jonathon, Brian), 9 great-grandchildren (Dyllon, Samantha, Kayla, Nathan, Ethan, Brayden, Trent, Madyson, Melody) and one great-great (Calvin).
