Betty Lou Albritton Brooks, of Sanford, Florida passed away March 23, 2024 at 6:58 pm. 

She was born on June 16, 1934 in Okeechobee, FL to Joel Albritton and Louise Brantley Albritton.  She graduated from Orlando High School in 1952.  On a trip to Long Island, New York that was a graduation gift, Betty met James William Brooks.  It was love at first sight and they married on April 12, 1953.  Upon moving to Sanford in 1957, Betty worked as a cashier for Winn Dixie Stores and Fairway Markets.  She moved on to become a teacher training cashiers in Orange County Public Schools, Vocational Education and retired on December 31, 1992. 

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Richard, husband, James, son, Kenneth, and her fishing and beer drinking buddy, Frank Cason. 

She is survived by her sons, James William, Jr. and Donald Alan Brooks; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, and many cousins and friends. 

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lake Mary.  Betty loved fishing on Lake Kissimmee, Lake Monroe, and on the lake in her back yard.   

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771.  The funeral will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
